Apr 12, 2024 · At first I thought this was Meissen but Im pretty sure that this is Dresden, (Carl Thieme) based on the mark. The mark is in blue and is a X with a capital T. The base and urn are marked. No mark on the cover. The item is hand painted and very detailed. The urn is approx. 19 1/2" high and weighs over 8 lbs. Three seperate pieces. In September 1872 he established a porcelain factory named Sächsische Porzellan-Fabrik Carl Thieme zu Potschappel. Carl Thieme died in 1888. The business was taken over in 1896 by his talented son in law, Karl August Kuntsch. Kuntsch was a modeler who started a tradition of flower decorations traditional for Dresden style porcelain items.Lush gilt trim and delicate raised paste accents. The saucer is apx 5 3/4" diameter; the cup is apx 2 1/4" high. Maker's mark: Carl Thieme [Dresden, 1918 -] in blue, and "Dresden"; underglaze; "Germany" is handpainted on the saucer. Both pieces are in excellent condition ~ no damage or flaws.
