How to take apart a kimber 1911.

Own quite a few 1911's, of those 2 are Kimber, 1 being an Ultra Carry II with @ 250 - 300 rounds fired in 3 years. Ultra being a 3 inch pistol, it has a compressed spring assembly. Fired @ 30 rounds of the 300 and could not disassemble the firearm using the take down tool provided. I had a tiny piece of plastic break off of a chamber flag and get stuck between the barrel chamber and feed ramp which totally locked up the 1911. Verify the gun is unloaded by doing a magazine check and chamber check. Lock the slide to the rear. Run the Boresnake through the barrel from breech to muzzle (front to back) several times.

The black part is the block, the gold thing is the safety. On the left side, the block is in the way of the firing pin moving forward. On the right side, the block is pushed up, exposing the cutout, and allowing the firing pin to move forward. Eventually you'll take it apart to see for yourself.
