I have heard nothing but good things about the new Ruger made 336's. As far as blr vs 336… 336 is more of a classic. If you're looking for a short-medium range deer or bear rifle, it's hard to find a better combo. Very compact and usable. If it shoots well, you'll fall in love using it.
