What you did was check the current that was there. Norrmanlly you would leave ever thing conected and check the voltage at the battery. You will always see a current when doing the check that you did. Its based on the load at that current time. The load doesnt change when you rev it up the voltage changes P=IV.
I have the service manual and have tested the 3 main yellow wires coming from the stator. All have continuity with each other and are well within the service limits.
