All MAME ROMs need to be played with the correct version of MAME. For this batch, this would be the middle MAME release for 2016. But rather than go through all that drama, better to download the corresponding MAMEUI frontend. This would mean downloading MAMEUI 0.174. The easiest place for this is the Italian website Progetto-Snaps.
The MAME 2010 core has the following option(s) that can be tweaked from the core options menu. The default setting is bolded. Run Mame2010 and enter Mame2010 GUI. Then go to where Tab to open GUI is located, it should be in Option Settings or Settings, basically NOT Player 1 or Player 2 but general input settings for navigating the GUI.
