Won't start on starting fluid either. I pulled a spark plug and confirmed there's no spark. Checked for power to the coils and don't have anything on the middle terminal. Should be 12v. New plug gapped to .0325. Because the engine doesn't run the battery isn't recharged as I try to start it. I externally charge the battery to between 12.6 & 13.0. I just ordered a new solenoid as it didn't ohm out 2.5 + or - 20%. Once that is installed (and works!!!!) I'll look at the no spark issue.
