We have a problem with the slip clutch on the top of the baler. It takes out the bushings and then starts to slip while making a bale. We added an extra zerk to try to lube the bushings better, but still have problem. We are now going to rebuild the shaft as that is wearing down. Several neighbors have the same problem.

Remove all the belts but one in the center. Cut a piece of belt from one of the old belts about 20 to 24" long and laced on each end. Install this short piece of belt in the one remaining belt in the baler. Open the tailgate until the pin can be removed from under the takeup arm. Lower the tailgate all the way.

This clutch does not emit any noise when slipping. If it is ony the main clutch slipping then there probably are no plates left in the clutch. Raise the front shield and take a look. The only other slip clutch is on the sledge roll drive on the right side of the baler.
