I personally use the Alive Reshade including the RTGI (ray tracing) stuff. Looks great and the gameplay variant works fine in gaming. There are a few popular customized Reshade forks used with FFXIV, like Gshade. By default they will go crazy modifying the colors, saturation, and tone mapping of the game, but you can turn off everything except for the SMAA and depth haze/depth of field effects if you're fine with the game's default colors.

Personally I use Colourfulness 1.5 because I think it looks to pale. Clarity 3-4 with LumaSharpen 0.7 to get more contrast between colors. AdaptiveSharpen 0.2 with FXAA 0.25 for better edges.
