DOM kept up on both the web app and the desktop version even in the highest volatility. The DOM and extras are legit.

There are cheaper platforms (SierraCharts) there are better DOM's (Jigsaw Daytradr), but NinjaTrader's advantage is the programming. Sierra Chart is arguably the best retail trading platform currently available for technical traders. Sadly, their customer service is the worst I have experienced. They randomly drop support for data feeds and brokers without notice (unless you are scouring the entire forum each and every day I suppose).
