Just looked at what I have on the shelf - everything from an acrylic BM Fresh Start, SW Preprite acrylic Bonding Primer, Cover Stain, BIN, 123, SW latex and alkyd exterior primers (old A-100), BM Fresh Start exterior alkyd, Peel Bond, and a number of spray primers for incidentals.

What I did to prep is to use a corner otherwise known as mouse sander. A few pieces in 80 then 120 grit. Finally, 800. Didn't have any 600 as my box notes. This sander helped me easily remove the shiny surface and create a surface for adhesion.
In my experience, extreme bond primer is only for adhesion. EBP doesn't have any blocking/ minimal sealing properties. Since you were willing to go through and do the hard work (sanding/tack cloth) a different primer would have worked out much better.
