The camshaft you chose is less powerfull/smaller than the stock marine camshaft. You will need at least 218/224 degrees of duration @.050 lift to get close to 350 horsepower. In Forward OR Reverse, the valve directs pressure to the clutch pack. The second thing the shift portion does is mechanically tighten down the reverse band. Go ahead and drain the fluid (ATF Type F).
The problems with major cracking has been in the liner built boats. The stringer built boats such as the 25 have been fine. The problems you have heard on the 2006 and prior boats have been in the 23, 30 and a few 20/202s. There were several 35's and a couple of 26's as well that had the problems. We have a 25 Outlaw and love it.

In 2007, they modified hull and interior. 2006 prior there is a separate stateroom for the master with a door, 2007 after the cabin is one big area with a curtain for the master bed. Having my transom replaced in my Baja 36 Outlaw. Coosa was suggested by my builder but I cannot find much on using it in a heavy performance boat. I'm concerned with strength vs plywood. Treated plywood is pretty much rot proof as well. You can get the clutch plates online. That clutch drum and some of the associated parts are from a Ford FMX trans. Those are the clutch plates you'll need. There is no specific forward gear. The clutches lock up to give you forward. Those gears create reverse through the planetary when the band locks the drum down.
