I have tried putting the safety on and pulling the charging handle back, it clicks but still releases forward. My son noticed that it was not staying open after the last shot fired also.

Then in a slight squat position, spread your knees. Lot of strengththere. Barrel should then separate from the receiver w/o any problem. The 10/22 can be turned into a decent shooter if you want to replace everything except the reciever and spend a lot of money in the process. I had bought an old 552 trigger group and it dropped right in. That took care of the creep, and I then installed a lighter spring and got it from 4 down to two or three pounds. The old trigger groups worked much better ...Also, is the 552 trigger assembly strikingly similar to the 870? I was having deja vu looking at it. The spent case will stove pipe with a new round trying to be chambered. This happens about ever other round fired. Shooting cci sv (and 2 other brands) it fires, ejects case, loads a round,, then on second shot a failure to fire, then very difficult to extract by hand. Disassembled and did complete clean.
