Hi there, so I got Star Citizen 3.0 and I tried linking the controller to play the game via USB using DS4windows. I was successful after my first try but now it doesn't seem to work properly. For instance, I can't move using the analogs/thumbsticks and all the other controls also don't seem to work.

The closer range allows for more consistent accurate readouts by using the same scan as the mining laser. It's broken. I doubt they intended to remove radar signatures from ping scans. Mining is severely affected as you're unable to identify the type or quantity of deposit unless you're at it.
